Just returned from a 4 night trip to Riad Assalam. We were met at the airport by Saeed who drove us to the Riad, which we pre-booked a few days before leaving. We were given a mint tea on arrival, which was very refreshing, while Saeed completed all the relevant paperwork & told us about Marrakech & the excursions that were available. The Riad is tucked away from a very busy road & once inside this lovely haven, you immediately feel relaxed. Our room was spacious & clean, with an ensuite shower room & aircon, which was a godsend as it was 50+ degrees outside. The main square is about a 10min walk away. There are a couple of nice traditional restaurants very near the Riad, or head to the main square where there are many places to eat & the views over the square at night are lovely. We were the only guests staying in the Riad Assalam & the staff couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious & consisted of bread, jams, croissants, crepes & freshly squeezed orange juice. It was my birthday while we were there & after returning from a day out exploring Marrakech, there was a beautiful arrangement of roses waiting for me in our room, so thoughtful. Caterine who is the owner is very hospitable & very sweet. We had a lovely time here & the staff will do anything to help. Well worth a visit & stay at Riad Assalam.

We stayed one night in this riad. We were served mint tea upon arrival and the friendly man at the reception carried our bags up to our room. The room had plenty of space, with an interesting cave-like shower and there also was a separate heater in addition to the regular AC, which was convenient since the room was large and could have been cold without it. Traditional moroccan breakfast was individually served to us which was nice compared to other riads with standing buffets. Wifi didn't reach our room and it kept disconnecting down at the courtyard as well. With good wifi this riad would be 5/5.

This establishment deserves a 5-star rating for so many reasons.Traveled here in the beginning of November. After experiencing the rush and the heat of the city we got a warm welcome from Catherine, the owner of the Riad and Said, the PR manager who served us a welcome drink (mint tea) and gave us all the necessary information about sightseeing. One of the best surprises was we have been given a purple room as they distinguish their room according to different colors instead of numbering them. Had to pay an additional city-tax for staying at the Riad but it was a negligible price. Location:Prime situation on the historical district, 15 minutes by taxi from the airport, 10 minutes walk from Jamaa El Fna. For the first time a little bit difficult to find it but the locals will be pleased to help you finding it for some reward of money of course.Staff:All of the staff sooo nice, even though there was a language barrier as we do not speak French, we felt like at home among them. Always prepared to help. Food:We tried only the breakfast but was always delicious: consisted of their typical pancake, bread and croissants, jam, butter, tea or coffee. Was pretty enough to get energy to walk all morning. Moreover, they serve beer and wine for case you need some alcoholic drinks (as outside the hotel you will hardly find some). WIFI:Very good connection!Weather:Very warm and always sunny. During the night long sleeves needed. Excursion:We have took the quad and camel trip advised and arranged by the hotel. Worth the money. Tips:In spite of the fact the the locals are too disturbing you do not have to worry, they respect the tourists. Jardin Majorelle was nice and the Bahia as well. The upper restaurants on the main square are worth a visit, serve typical Moroccan food (tajine, couscous, etc.). Beyond the wall you will find bars where they serve you alcohol. As I do not like to return to the same place twice because there are so many nice places to see and I have seen everything in 5 days in Marrakech, I would not return but I highly recommend it!Greetings to the whole staff, Said take some holidays and don't work too much.

Our first visit to Marrakech and oh what a find this small was. A very warm and homely welcome greeted us. Thank you to Catherine and her team. Despite our very, very basic French and Catherine's similarly basic English, communication was a little difficult. The concept of Riads as not only living accommodation but as a calm and gently enveloping cocoon against the hustle, bustle, dust and heat of city was brought beautifully Breakfasts are continental style with Moroccan pancakes, waffles, bread,butter, jams and yogurt, mint tea and or coffee. There is some room for variation so just ask if you prefer boiled eggs etc, though bacon might be scarce! Dinners are served on demand if ordered the previous day with quantity as well as quality being more than enough. This isn't 4/5* all inclusive, bells whistling luxury so if you want a la carte or more variety, more entertainment, it's not here. What you do get is a little slice of history, comfort and a chance take a well deserved rest. Only down side is the regular calls to prayer starting around 04:00, yes 4am every morning - you may need ear plugs.

A friend and I spent 4 nights here and it was SUPERB!The staff so friendly and helpful. Very clean accommodation. felt relaxed the whole time.Nothing was too much trouble including giving us a map of area! The riad is in a fantastic location- very central to the main sites including the Jemaa el fnaa. so can walk nearly everywhere.Breakfast was lovely and we also had a meal at the riad one evening- good tagine!Received flowers as it was my birthday while we were there, which was a very thoughtful touch.Downsides- cannot think of any except the lighting in the room was not great for putting makeup on but that is being really picky!Will be stopping again I hope on return to Marrakech.

This Riad offers a home away from home, highly recommended it. We stayed for a couple of nights, the service was friendly, the rooms are clean and the decor very moroccan. I loved the tasty, fresh breakfast on the roof. The location of the Riad is convenient and in walking distance to many interesting sites and markets, but is not affected by the noise on the streets.
